Spotlighting Partners of the First Tee of Coastal Carolinas

Since 2014, Wedgefield CC has been the host for Georgetown County School’s School Day Program and Champions Challenge event for fourth graders.

Situated along the winding banks of the Black River, Wedgefield Country Club is a breathtaking example of South Carolina Lowcountry scenery and charm. Porter Gibson and Bob Toski designed 18-hole golf course

The Manor House, built in the late 1700’s, is host to member events, specialty dinners open to the public, weddings, corporate banquets and social gatherings.

The School Day Program is conducted for fourth graders in all ten Georgetown  County Elementary Schools plus the Montessori Learning Center. Nine times per school year, our volunteers work with roughly 650 fourth graders and their Physical Education teachers at Wedgefield CC, The Tradition Golf Club and Cherry Hill CC in Andrews.  School Day sessions focus on The First Tee Nine Core Values™, using golf as the medium.

The School Day Program culminates with the Champions Challenge at Wedgefield CC.  Each of the 11 elementary schools selects a team of 14 fourth graders (7 girls, 7 boys) to compete in a skills challenge
